  • New York State Champion wurde Ende Juli in Owego Jeremy Parsons.

    EAGLES 46 – HEATHENS 38
In what was a definite turn up for the books, the Eagles, with strength throughout their order, pulled off an unexpected win against the highly favored Huntington Beach Heathens. Billy Janniro led the way with 4 wins and 14 points, only Max Ruml in heat 11 prevented a maximum. 16 year old Michael Wells scored an impressive 9+1 in back up, and he was supported well by Robbie Sauer who scored a 3 ride maximum from the second string position. For the Heathens Russell Green scored 12 which included a stunning double point Joker win as he rounded 2 time US National Champ Aaron Fox in heat 15. Max Ruml scored 9+1, whilst newcomer Chance Grove had some very impressive rides including a blistering pass of Eagle Redmond Bohannon on the final turn of Heat 4. The Eagles went into a 6 point lead after heat 3. The Heathens hit back with a 5-1 in heat 4 but four straight 4-2s for the Eagles from there and two 5-1s in heats 12 and 13 made the victory margin quite comfortable.

    Eagles: Billy Janniro 14 (5), Michael Wells 9+1 (4), Robbie Sauer 9 (3), Chet Kohler 6+1 (3), Ron Davis 4 (3), Redmond Bohannon 3+1 (4), Rick Shafer 1 (4).

    Heathens: Russell Green 12 (5), Max Ruml 9+1 (5), Rohn Zellner 7 (3), Chance Grove 4+1 (4), Bruce Marteney 4 (3), Brad Moreau 2 (1) Lawrence McNutt 1 (3), Steve Brown 0 (2),

    VIKINGS 38 – ACES 38
The defending champion Santa Maria Aces and former champs Ventura Vikings duked it out in a very intense meeting that ended in a tie. Luke Becker won 3 in a row for the Aces before a tapes exclusion ruled him out in heat 11. Solid support came from throughout the team with Mike Lane and Steve Bowen both scoring 7+1. Gino Manzares suffered a mechanical nightmare, mustering just one point in three rides. Dillon Ruml led the Vikings with a solid 11, supported well by Aaron Fox (9+2), William McCloskey (8+1 paid max) and veteran Doug Nicol on 7+1. The weaker tail of the Vikings proved costly with only three points between them. The Vikings scored a 5-1 in heat 1, with the Aces then hitting back with a maximum in heat 2. The Aces edged 6 ahead after 6 races but then matters swung back with the Vikings 4 up after 12. Heat 13 had it all tied again after inspired moves from the back from Mike Lane and Joey Donaldson gave the Aces a 5-1. The Vikings were 1 up going into the last race, with Becker finishing one place ahead of Dillon Ruml. Ruml passed his brother Max in the final which ultimately secured the tie.

    Aces: Luke Becker 11 (5), Mike Lane 7+1 (3), Steve Bowen 7+1 (4), Rudy Laurer 5 (3), Joey Donaldson 4+3 (3), Hayley Perrault 3 (5), Gino Manzares 1 (3)

    Vikings: Dillon Ruml 11 (5), Aaron Fox 9+2 (5), William McCloskey 8+1 (3), Doug Nicol 7+1 (4), Harold Hartke 2 (3), Tom Bryant 1 (3), Sammy Tetrault 0 (3)

    Match 1: Vikings 33 – Eagles 38
The Perris Eagles continued their dream season by defeating the Ventura Vikings to remain unbeaten after two matches. They started with a Janniro victory in heat 1 and built up to a 6 point leader with a Chet Kohler / Rick Shafer 5-1 in heat 2. Kurtis Hamill led a 4-2 for the Vikings with a comfortable win in heat 3 and after a tied heat 4 the Vikings leveled it up with a 5-1 from Aaron Fox and Dillon Ruml in heat 5. Robbie Sauer and Kohler however hit back with an Eagles maximum in heat 6. The Eagles steadily built a 5 point lead through heat 11 from this point. The Vikings had one last rally in heat 12 where William McCloskeygated and team mate Dillon Ruml slowed down the action to help keep Redmond Bohannon and Michael Wells at the back. The final four heats however saw the Eagles ease back ahead with a deserved 5 point win. Janniro led the way for the Eagles with 13 but it was the 6 and 7 riders of Kohler and Shafer with 6+2 points each that provided exceptional back up. The top power of Dillon Ruml, Kurtis Hamill and Aaron Fox topped for the Vikings but it was not enough to reel in the deep Eagles

    Vikings 33: Dillon Ruml 12 (6), Kurtis Hamill 9 (4) Aaron Fox 7+3 (6), William McCloskey 4+1 (4), Harold Hartke 1 (3), Mike Miller 1 (3). R/R for Doug Nicol
    Eagles 38: Billy Janniro 13 (5), Chet Kohler 6+2 (3), Rick Shafer 6+2 (3), Robbie Sauer 5 (3), Michael Wells 4 (4), Redmond Bohannon 2 (4), Pat Litt 2 (4)

    Match 2: Aces 48 – Heathens 37
The Aces used their top end power to overcome the Heathens and secure a comfortable victory. Nine heat winner and only three last places was quite an impressive stat as they roared into contention to defend their title. The early part of proceedings however were quite close. After the Aces edged an early two point lead, a heat 3 5-1 for the Heathens after Aces leader Rudy Laurer fell on the last turn put the Heathens two up. The power twosome of Luke Becker and Tyson Burmeister hit back with a heat 6 5-1, but Matt King and Rohn Zellner did the same in heat 8 to once more put the Heathens ahead. A second half collapse however saw the Aces out score their rivals 25 – 13 to win by 11 clear points overall. Becker was sublime with a perfect 14+1 but team mate Burmeister supported well with three wins and 12 points. Colton Hicks scored a super impressive 8 including two wins with Mike Lane at reserve chipping in 6+1. The Heathens lacked consistency, even #1 rider Max Ruml had an up and down night by his usual high standards. Jeremy Estes was unbeaten in three rides but it was a tough night at the office for Phil Harmatiuk's team who now go to the bronze race against the Vikings.

    Aces 48: Luke Becker 14+1 (5), Tyson Burmeister 12 (5), Colton Hicks 8+1 (4), Mike Lane 6+1 (3), Hayley Perrault 4 (3), Rudy Laurer 3 (3), Joey Donaldson1+1 (3)
    Heathens 37: Jeremy Estes 9 (3), Max Ruml 7 (5), Matt King 5+1 (3), Rohn Zellner 5+1 (3), Russell Green 5 (5), Chance Grove 5 (4), Lawrence McNutt 1+1 (3)

Santa Maria Aces 39 – Perris Eagles 43

The Championship match was a close affair throughout. Heat 1 saw the Aces on a 4-2 after Tyson Burmeister outgated Janniro, but an inside charge from the AMA champ put it as a 3-3. The Eagles took the lead after a heat 3 5-1 from the engine room of Robbie Sauer and Michael Wells (after Rick Richards, in second, ran out of fuel on lap 4). Burmeister and Jimmy Fishback hit back with a 5-1 in heat 5 to even things up, but Sauer and Rick Shafer struck in heat 7 with a maximum to put the Eagles into a 23-19 lead. From this point the Eagles were always ahead, their biggest lead being by 7 points with three heats to go. The Aces clawed back to 2 points behind ahead of the final race but with Janniro in the mix, it was too little too late. Janniro had some epic duels with Burmeister, who inflicted his only defeat in heat 12. Rudy Laurer and Tim Gomez both won two heats for the Aces and provided good support. The Eagles simply had the depth, Michael Wells and Robbie Sauer especially being dominant in the second string roles.

    Aces 39: Tyson Burmeister 11 (5), Jimmy Fishback 8+1 (5), Tim Gomez 8+1 (4), Rudy Laurer 7+1 (3), Hayley Perrault 3 (4), Rick Richards 2 (3), Joey Donaldson 0 (3)
    Eagles 43: Billy Janniro 14 (5), Michael Wells 8+1 (4), Robbie Sauer 8+1 (3 paid maximum), Rick Shafer 5+1 (3), Redmond Bohannon 4 (5), Chet Kohler 3+2 (3), Pat Litt 1 (4)

Ventura Vikings 45 – Huntington Beach Heathens 33

The Vikings secured the bronze medal spot with a dominant victory over the Heathens. Dillon Ruml led his team to victory with 13+1 with excellent back up from Eddie Castro on 10 and Aaron Fox on 9. The Heathens only registered two heat winners in the entire match (Russell Green and Chance Grove). Green led the Heathens with 8+1 with veteran Bart Bast impressing with some great rides in support on 7+1. After an initial 3-3 the Vikings went into cruise control and back to back 5-1s put them 24-12 up after 6 heats. The second half of the match was more evenly contested, the Vikings losing Harold Hartke and Doug Nicolbefore their final programmed rides. Dillon Ruml was the only undefeated rider ahead of the final race in the event that featured all 4 teams top scorer. Janniro got the better of Ruml but it was still an outstanding performance from last years World Cup debutante. The race of the night was a 5-1 in heat 6 where Fox and Ruml were side by side with Green giving everything he got to get by but the wall of Vikings could not be penetrated.

    Vikings 45: Dillon Ruml 13+1 (5), Eddie Castro 10 (4), Aaron Fox 9 (5), William McCloskey 7 (3), David Pieperr 5+1 (3), Harold Hartke 1 (2), Doug Nicol 0 (3)
    Heathens 33: Russell Green 8+1 (6), Bart Bast 7+1 (5), Chance Grove 5 (3), Jason Ramirez 4+1 (4), Lawrence McNutt 5 (3), Rohn Zellner 4 (3), Kenny Pieper 0 (3)

Junior Team Race: Young Aces 31 – Young Eagles 30
The youth riders raced in a challenge match which went down to the wire. Each team had a combination of 250cc and 150cc riders who raced within their division. The Young Aces recovered from the early loss of team captain Sebastian Palmese, who withdrew after a second ride crash to win by a solitary point thanks to a last heat 5-1 from Owen Williams and Travis Horn. Williams was undefeated by an opponent all night. Sara Cords was the stand out 250 rider with 10+1 points and a win in the final 250 heat.

Young Aces 31: Owen Williams 8+1 (maximum), Slater Lightcap 6, Travis Horn 6, Cole Ayers 5, Sebastian Palmese 4, Levi Leutz 2+1.

    Ergebnis:

    1. Billy Janniro, 18 Punkte (3,3,2,1,3,3,3)

    2. Luke Becker, 19 Punkte (3,3,3,3,3,2,2)
